So, someone sent me a note asking me (and warning me) about my works being licensed as Creative Commons and how that was going to bring down fire and brimstone on the artistic community.
I've already responded privately, but I thought I'd share my views with you here. Not least because I am a fervent believer in Copyleft, Creative Commons, and of course Copyright.

Hi.
Thanks for your note warning me about the dangers of Creative Commons. I'm afraid though I'm going to have to disagree with you and your views on this subject. Aside from my graphic artistic creations, I'm also a published author of two science-fiction novels.
For the last 10+ years, each of my creations has been licensed under a Creative Commons like license (GNU Free Document License, CC-BY-NC) or flat out released to the public domain.
The only time a piece of my creation has NOT been released under a Copyleft license has been when it's been a work for hire which all copyrights were transferred upon delivery.
People are going to "steal" my work. That's a given. If I didn't want my work to be shared or enjoyed, I never would have put it on the Internet to begin with. While my account may be only a week old, I've been around for ages. The reasons behind setting up a new ID are immaterial, let's just say I'm able to be a little more expressive and freer with this account than my other one here.
What I'm getting at is I'm not naive in this regard. But, I've given up worrying about whether someone is posting my work and selling it on eBay. It's just not worth it, and I'd spend entirely too much energy policing "the Internet" for negligible — if any — reward for doing so.
I'm also a firm believer in Karma. If I do right by others, the Universe will reward me.
So, thanks for your note and concerns, they've been duly noted.
However, for me, what I'm doing works for me.
I would encourage you to check out this post by Trey Ratcliff who has a better way of expressing things: plus.google.com/10523721288859…

Calling all ZBrush Gurus! (Help please?)
Ok, I've fallen madly in love with ZBrush. But I seem to be getting hung up on some of the simplest of concepts and was hoping some ZBrush gurus here at art (https://www.deviantart.com/art) could help a n00b out? :-)
Specifically - how does one go about getting a "clean" cut of anything? I get that ZBrush is an organic modeler, but even after having masked off a region, extracted it, and attempted to smooth it out using the clay and smooth brushes nothing I'm doing is remotely looking clean.
Thoughts and suggestions would be most appreciated. :-)
Getting back into sculpting.
It's been several years since I last immersed myself into 3D sculpting and back then it was mainly 3DS max and Wings3D.
But I've been bit by the bug again.
I just wish I could texture worth a damn. :-) Seriously, I can't. I'm not a 3D texture artist. My brain doesn't work that way.
Thinking about releasing everything though under a Creative Commons License.
I'm surprised more artists don't release their works under Creative Commons. After all, All Creative Work is Derivative.

Poser Pro 2014 Mac and ZBrush 4R6
Finally got Poser Pro 2014 working with ZBrush 4R6. Opened a ticket with Smith Micro and they gave me a ZIP file to manually install the GoZ files. They said it will be fixed with the next service release. If you want the files, you can download them from my blog here.
Of course @PoserPro 2014 crashes on me.
